One of our favorite things about living at Lot 24’s Pittsburgh luxury apartments is our close proximity to the Strip District and all the culture, flavor, and local spark it has to offer. Today we’re highlighting the eclectic breakfast eatery we’ve come to know and love right here in the neighborhood—Kelly O’s Diner.
Kelly O’s began in 2001, when owner Kelly O’Connor took a risk on a property just north of Pittsburgh and turned it into a bustling diner attracting locals and guests alike with both classic and modern twists on breakfast and lunch favorites. After building up a strong local following, Kelly O’s got its big TV break with a feature on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-In’s and Dive’s where viewers got a peek into the family-friendly, Pittsburgh-centric brunch spot. Following the diner’s television debut, Kelly expanded the business by opening up a second location right here in the Strip District.
Almost two decades later, Kelly O’s is going strong. Each of Kelly’s children work in the diner, with special guest appearances by her mother, Tootie, as well. The diner’s layout harkens back to simpler times, with shiny stainless-steel stools and tabletops, Pittsburgh sports’ décor adorning the walls, and a long bar where you can enjoy a simple cup of joe while taking in the sights and smells of bustling breakfast service.
When it comes to food, Kelly O’s nails it each and every time. An expansive menu features everything from steak and eggs to buttermilk pancakes and plenty of classics in between. If you’re feeling adventurous, we suggest you go for the crab eggs benedict, and if you’re in the mood to indulge, grab a famous grilled cinnamon roll for the table. No matter what you’re in the mood for, we’re confident you’ll find it and then some at Kelly O’s.
Be sure to check out their website for hours, locations, and more of their story. Maybe we’ll see you there for breakfast this summer!
