If you haven't yet taken advantage of this local Pittsburgh treasure, now's the time to get out and visit Hitchhiker Brewing Co. Their two locations in the Mt. Lebanon and Sharpsburg neighborhoods of the city offer something for everyone with beer selections from pale ales to stouts and everything in between.
Hitchhiker Brewing got its start in 2014, brewing beer in the basement of their original brewery and former pub in Mt. Lebanon, utilizing a three-barrel fermentation system. Owners Gary Olden, his wife Serena, and their head brewer Andy Kwiatkowski have since expanded, opening a second location in Sharpsburg where all the brewing magic now takes place.
Both locations now include tap rooms with a laid-back vibe that offer full pours, tasting flights, and growlers to-go for at-home enjoyment. Outdoor seating and a yummy bar menu including Amish hard pretzels, cheese and charcuterie boards, tacos, and local beef jerky. Check out hours, location, and details about what’s on tap at each location before you go here
For a more up close and personal look into the goings-on at Hitchhiker, come out to a comprehensive brewery tour where behind the scenes experts will explain the process that goes into creating the ideal beer. Tours take place the first Saturday of every month at the company’s Sharpsburg location. In addition to your exclusive look behind the curtain, brewery tours include a complimentary beer tasting as well as Hitchhiker glassware to take home so you can enjoy your brew in style. Tours are just $25.00 per person, and you can book them here. Support local craft beer and dedicated talent at your very own neighborhood brewery this summer. Maybe we’ll see you there!
