The Pittsburgh Opera - Celebrating 10 Years in the Strip District

Located in walking distance from Lot 24, the prestigious Pittsburgh Opera is a perfect place to indulge in artistic productions of the highest caliber.

As the seventh oldest company in the United States, the Pittsburgh Opera was founded in 1939 and got its start with performances at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. It has continued to grow immensely in the world of opera and with its move to the Pittsburgh Strip District in 2008, it has been able to enrich the community with educational programs, free events, and more!

What’s Going On This Month?

The 2017 – 2018 season concludes with Donizett’s L’elisir d’Amore – The Elixir of Love. Set in the 1950s, the story revolves around Nemorino, who is trying to find a way to win over Adina, a very well-to-do woman completely out of his league. But, once Nemorino purchases a love potion from a traveling doctor, things get very interesting as he starts to earn the affection of multiple girls in his town.

You can enjoy this romantic comedy during the month of April, with performances on April 21, 24, 27 and 29. Clickhere for tickets!

More Than Just a Show

The Pittsburgh Opera is proud to offer a variety of experiences for you to enjoy, including events like Opera Up Close, where you can hear the artists talk about the show and Art Song Recitals which involve resident artists performing art song literature.

New to the opera? Start out by partaking in one of their Brown Bag Concerts, which are free to attend, allow you to bring a lunch, and are available on certain Saturdays of the month.

Can’t make it to any of the showings offered this month? Not a worry! The season starts back up in October with Puccini’sMadama Butterfly.
