Check Out What’s New at Smallman Galley
Here at our Pittsburgh luxury apartments, we have our pick when it comes to dining out. There are so many delicious options in our area that sometimes it can feel overwhelming. If you don’t know where to go for a night out this weekend, Smallman Galley is a sure bet. This part-food-hall-part-restaurant-accelerator is an innovative idea brought to Pittsburgh by Galley Group who has made it their mission to provide a space for up-and-coming chefs and restaurateurs to try out creative new concepts in a low-risk, low-cost forum.
Inside Smallman Galley are four distinct restaurants as well as a bar and coffee shop. At Steel City Subs, you’ll find classic sandwiches with an emphasis on fresh, sustainable ingredients. Behind the restaurant’s concept is Anthony Curtis, who is passionate about working with local farmers and purveyors in order to use the best ingredients he can find. Each item on the menu is cleverly named in an homage to our city. If you go, try the Steel City Sub.
Chef Phillip Milton is the culinary mind behind Home, a Smallman Galley restaurant that celebrates down-home comfort food. Their creamy onion soup and Mom’s Pot Roast will help you get through the chill of the winter, and they’re also open for brunch, serving up everything from biscuits and gravy to cinnamon rolls.
At Sultry, chefs Brian and Melissa create classic dishes with a personal twist. Their menu promises something for everyone, including an enticing vegetarian section that offers marinated beets topped with black pepper cheese and a cinnamon caraway crumble. Their main dishes and sandwiches are delicious, but you’ll want to be sure to leave room for dessert.
The Smoke Pitt brings us another Chef Phillip Milton creation, offering good-old-fashioned barbecue and sides. Start with the smoked wings, move on to the chopped brisket sandwich, and don’t leave without trying the campfire smores pie.
Smallman Galley also features a full bar where you can get an artisanal cocktail, beer, or a glass of wine while you enjoy your meal. Happy hour takes place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday with half-price drinks, making it the perfect spot to unwind after work. Come out to Smallman Galley and help support these impressive chefs who are just as passionate about their craft as they are about bringing delicious food to Pittsburgh.
