Try These Pittsburgh Picnic Spots this Summer Season

One of the best things about summer is the ability to entertain yourself and friends outdoors. Forget the stress of hosting a formal dinner party, and simply gather together your group, grab some sandwiches and drinks, and head to a picnic spot near our Pittsburgh luxury apartments.

Today, we’re letting you in on a few of our favorite spots to spread out and soak up the summer sun.

This spot is popular for a reason. A favorite of runners, students, and sunbathers alike, Flagstaff Hill is a beautiful place to settle down in the warmer months. The elevation provides a breathtaking view of the skyline and the rest of the park, so you get the feeling that you’re totally surrounded by nature without ever having to leave the city. Flagstaff Hill is great during the daytime, and beautiful as well at dusk as you’ll have an unobstructed view of the sunset. Look out for the park’s summer cinema screenings as well, and plan your picnic today! For more info on upcoming events, check out their website here.

Riverview Park feels like one of Pittsburgh’s best kept secrets. It’s rarely crowded, always quiet, and allows you to be fully immersed in nature just 10 minutes outside the city. The park has tons of hiking and walking trails, and is the ideal place for a day-long adventure with friends. Grab a hiking map and plan an afternoon walk followed by a delicious picnic. Plus, the area is dog-friendly so feel free to bring your pups along! Head over to the park’s website to learn about upcoming events and activities.

If you’re looking for a scenic spot in the heart of the city, Charles A. Lewis Parklet is the place for you. Honoring the late firefighter who began the Pittsburgh Fill-The-Boot Drive, this memorial garden features beautiful architecture, murals, and greenery and makes for a perfectly quaint and quiet place to recharge in the heart of Pittsburgh. Simply head to the intersection of Shiloh Street and Virginia Ave to access the parklet.
